CONCLUSIONS
How can the knowledge of language functions affect your teaching now or
in the future?
Teachers also need to be fluent in social and academic English so that
they can serve as role models for students. Also, research has shown that
acquiring English as a second or additional language takes a long time, with
students requiring several years to study the language functions English
speaker typically study language from a structural perspective. These
structures include words, sounds, morphemes, phonemes, sentences parts of
speech, sentences order, sentences structure and vocabulary. The primary
assumption is that a speaker learns these structures in the process of
acquiring language.
Displacement and
semanticity are two types of expanded language functions that take the basic
semantic relationship of an agent, action, and object and move the meaning. This is very important
when teach English in the school or when do
the adults and other children in the child´s life predominately need to observe
what he is doing and make a guess at what he may or may not want? This means
the communication partner does all the work and has to learn to “read” the
situation.
There are any important questions when think in the
language functions What are the outside issues facing this student? What factors are affecting this student’s
acquisition of English? What additional
information would you like to know about this student? With whom would you
collaborate to gather more information about this student? What would you do in your role as teacher or
administrator to support this student? What additional help do you need? What do you need to learn so that you can help
this student? What do you already know
that can help this student?
